Singer for your time. So I'm selling some airsoft stuff online, someone offers me $100 for my gas-powered Glock 19, which is what I'm selling it for. The "person" who is apparently 14 years old lives on the southwest side of Detroit(what is safety??). He says he can't leave his house because his grandma will be at church. after telling me this, he gives me his number and deletes his Facebook account; then he gives me his address via text and also asks me if I can bring change to break a $100 bill because he's got 3 $100 bills and needs change for one to buy something worth $80 for aforementioned grandmonther.
Sketchy as fuck, this sounds...
WHAT THE FUCK SHOULD I DO??
(The airsoft Glock in question)

I wouldn't bother with him.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:09 |

Bring a real Glock in case he tries to run you.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:09 |

too many red flags and nopes. Plus don't you have to be 18 to legally buy/own any kind of airsoft?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:09 |
|
That would be nice to add to my collection...
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:10 |

Don't do it. You could get in loads of shit with his Grandma, and you don't want him to commit a crime with it or anything Jaha. You don't even want to know how many police involved shootings occur with the suspect having an airsoft gun.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:16 |
|
If your gut is telling you BAD IDEA, then you should listen to it. Also if you're worried about the neighborhood then you probably don't want to be parking either of your vehicles there, too. I've never had any problems in Detroit but I drive a redneck crapcan.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:17 |
|
I'm pretty sure it's 16, but that could differ from state to state and he's still too young if it is.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:18 |
|
Sketchy as hell. I wouldn't touch that.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:25 |
|
You're gonna get mugged.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:27 |

It's 18 across all the states.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:28 |
|
Full of no.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:29 |
|
Fuck no. Way too many red flags. Red flags in Detroit scare me significantly more than red flags anywhere else. Last thing I want to hear about tomorrow is that K-Roll got shot on some gang initiation shit.

![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:35 |

I would politely decline on that.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:35 |

I don't know, I started buying stuff at 17.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:36 |
|
What kinda collection do you have?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:39 |
|
This is a bad idea all around.
This airsoft gun can easily be mistaken for a real gun as soon as the tip is painted. This thing might be used to commit any number of crimes, not everyone is as responsible or sensible as you are. A person pulls this out in the night on someone to take their phone or otherwise that person is going to assume it's real or not even risk assuming it isn't.
If someone pulled this out and aimed it at a cop that person would be lit up like a firecracker.
I'm sure you have never had an intention in any way to do something bad with this but that's not everyone.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:43 |

Luckily, there aren't many police in Detroit unless there's a sporting event going on. Gotta protect those suburban sports fans!
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:44 |
|
Seriously? That almost makes negative sense that they're more strict on airsoft than regular airguns.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:45 |
|
Time to pack some real heat and then bring him the gun
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:49 |
|
Shoot him and take the money.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:49 |
|
With less police that increases the chance of this being used in a crime.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 13:51 |
|
Hehe.
M1911, MP44 Sturmgewehr, Winchester, two unnamed gas pistols and two unnamed rifles. Most of that came from my uncle who had a "surplus" supply.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:03 |
|
Don't think the real issue is that the 'buyer' might use it to commit a crime and you would be contributing to it. The issue is that you're gonna get robbed and beaten (or worse) if you show up. Fuck that noise.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:06 |
|
Do you mean like pellet rifles? You need to be 18 to buy those too.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:10 |
|
Sketchy as fuck man... You'd be better off putting it on ebay so you can just ship it somewhere instead of having to meet up with someone in Detroit, of all places. I've heard of something just like this and the guy got shot and beat within an inch of his life just to sell something (not trying to scare you, but I'm telling you that that shit DOES happen). Either tell him no or make him meet at a location you pick that you know is safe. But even then, it sounds a little too sketchy to even bother with this dude in the first place.
EDIT: here's the video. It has a couple parts, but it's worth watching because it's also a bit inspirational.

have you bought a Bimmer yet? ;)
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:11 |

don't do it!
If you're asking yourself if something is too sketchy the answer is yes ...
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:13 |
|
You do not, it varies by state. There is no federal regulation on air guns, in some states they can be purchased by 12 year olds.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:15 |
|
Haha, Not yet.
I'm thinking of keeping the A4 to use during the winters and on rainy days and just getting something else to have along side of it. Like an M3 or something.

this is an amazing plan!!!
The best plan in the history of plans!!!
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:22 |

if you do this I can find you a rust free M3 in SoCal. CA M3s are the best M3s!

But I've still got to do a little more research.

Check out this local example. Low mileage and MANUÉL
I thought you would like this 2006 BMW M3 for $28,000 on AutoTrader.com

Oooohhhh, Wanty.
Too bad I haven't got $30,000 to throw around :/
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:35 |

You know what I find interesting about the Federal 3/4" blaze orange on fake guns law? What's to stop someone from painting the tip on a real gun blaze orange and then using that to try and fool law enforcement the other way?
Nothing, that's what.
Cops will assume anything less than a neon-colored, transparent water gun is lethal, and even then they might not.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:36 |

I wonder how much it would cost to do the work necessary to make a $14K car with 130,000 miles on it as good or better than a 50,000 mile car.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:37 |
|
Stay the hell away. You are likely to get mugged, beaten, and robbed of both the airsoft gun and the extra cash you brought to break his $300.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:38 |
|
Hmmmm, possibly a lot?
Were there supposed to be two links?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:38 |
|
I was referring to the chance of being shot by an officer. And I'm pretty confident that 14 year old is way more likely to be using an airsoft gun at TDT ( http://www.tdtactical.com/ ) than in a crime, especially since Michigan is an open carry state and it is really really not a good idea to be intimidating people with a fake gun when they very well may be carrying.
Also, something tells me you haven't spent a lot of time in Detroit.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:39 |

He said he'd meet me at a gas station now. Is that better? At least it's more public right??
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:39 |

What if he meets me at a gas station?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:40 |

I don't want that either, but I really could use the cash. He agreed to meet me at a gas station. Is that somewhat better?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:41 |

What if the meeting location changes to a gas station?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:42 |

I have the actual airsoft gun in a box, I was planning on exchanging the cash gun and change and not getting out of my car. He said he'd meet at a gas station instead, much more public than the original idea at least?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:43 |

It would be worth researching. Good thing is that not everything would have to be done at once.
There was not a second link. I just have the prices memorized from prior searches. I searched and found a good example:
I thought you would like this 2002 BMW M3 for $15,700 on AutoTrader.com
http://atcm.co/S2PVDP/168BB44…
Lots of cars in this price range with this amount of miles.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:44 |

What if he agreed to meet at a gas station rather than his house?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:45 |

I have no noise at work, what's the video about and how is it "inspirational"?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:45 |

What if he meets me at a gas station.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:45 |

Yes. Yes, it is.
"Well Johnny, I can sell you this one that can kill large rodents and chihuahuas, but the one that will only penetrate cardboard is off-limits. You're not responsible enough for that yet."
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:47 |
|
Just don't do it. For only $100, it's not really worth it anyways.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:47 |
|
Besides, 14 year olds really have no business playing airsoft. I started at 16, but I've always been considered by adults to be older than my age. In my experience, the younger players lack the mental discipline to play safely, fairly, and skillfully.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:47 |

I still vote no

But I need money. :'(
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:49 |

This guy was betrayed by a friend who made him drive to a really bad part of East Detroit. When he drove him there, they both got out of the car, and this guy's "friend" shot him 3 times with a shot gun. (That's why I posted it, because unfortunately people set up traps like that in order to kill someone for their gang initiation, and I don't want that to be you).
The reason it's inspirational is because he tells the story of how he fought for his life and that an experience like that changed his outlook on life for the better.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:49 |

Buuut you don't want to get in trouble with anybody, and you most certainty don't want to get jumped.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:49 |

I started playing at 15. College has taken all the time I used to play airsoft in, so I'm trying to sell my stuff.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:50 |

My advice to you is to move on. This is sketchy as hell and will only bring you grief. You can find another buyer. The fact that you questioned it enough to ask for advice should tell you that you have doubts you shouldn't ignore.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:50 |
|
That'd be okay. Just meet in public somewhere. I tend to like coffee shops. Lots of traffic in and out, seats to wait, and public enough that someone likely won't pull anything dumb.
The change part has me super nervous, though. Honestly, the gas station could break his change for him. I'd tell him that. Yes to the gas station. No to the change; ask the attendant instead.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:51 |

Point being: don't carry a lot of cash on your person. I'd leave a lot of stuff (cards, etc.) at home, TBH—just in case. The couple times I've made a CL sale and it hasn't been picked up at the track, I've tossed an ID and a couple bucks for a latte in my pocket and that's it.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:52 |

What will I do for money then?? The monthly payments for the FoST are becoming too much for me to easily handle. :'(
I don't even have money to spend on myself anymore..

I just really need money.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:54 |

I don't know :(
Oh idea!
Can you borrow a 4 door car from your parents and drive Uber for extra cash?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:54 |

I still have my first airsoft gun (G&G RK-104), though I haven't played in 6 years or so and it needs some new gears. Had a KWA Glock 23, sold it to a friend for 100 bucks.
But, seriously, 12-14 year olds really ruin games. You know what I'm talking about, all the squeakers trying to talk trash or whine when something doesn't go their way.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:56 |

Can't you find some local kid/dude/lady who wants Airsoft?
![]() 09/21/2014 at 14:58 |

But I need money badly. :(

![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:04 |

Aside from that Glock, I've got a Tokyo Marui MC-51 and a G&G MP5-A4 full metal edition.
12-14 year olds in airsoft is like playing Call of Duty with 12-14 year olds. -_-
![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:05 |

Nope. I posted it up on a local Facebook For Sale group and he offered up first. Someone else offered $60 for it...

Someone else offered $60 for it, that's $40 less than what I want for it. :(
![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:08 |

But assess the risks involved! It may go down good, and then you might get robbed.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:09 |
|
Bad idea.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:13 |
|
Yeah don't do it. Here's the thing, airsoft guns, used by people under 18, really need adult supervision when using it. If he's truly 14, he needs parental supervision. If he's waiting til grandma is going to church, he's getting it without her knowledge. That isn't right.
Also, I found it sketchy he is asking you to break $100....why can't he just go to a bank and and get change? Or go to a store? He's asking you to bring money there, which is a red flag to me. Worst case scenario, his friends jump you and you're out a airsoft gun and money.
If he's serious, tell him to get grandma involved. She'll probably say no. If not, find someone else.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:21 |

Worse, because people can actually get physically injured and there is no mute button.

That doesn't sound good. If I were you,(And if you really can't afford it) I hate say it but I'd dump the payments or lease or whatever you've got on the FoST.
![]() 09/21/2014 at 15:49 |

didn't mean to scare you man, hahaha

Dont do it, learn from this story, in detroit. This teen that had asked by a "friend" after school if he could give him a ride home, his friend lived in a not pretty zone that he was always scared going to, one day after many times of being asked, he agreed and took his friend after school to his house, when he told him where to go to his address, some people were waiting for him, they had a shotgun and they fired at him. They took the car and left him for dead.
Dont put yourself at risk for 100 dollars.
